James
Bond’s Jamaica
Experience
the Jamaica that inspired the Bond series. On
arrival at the helipad you will be greeted with your choice of
either a flute of Champagne, or a bottle of Red Stripe Beer or water
to take along on the tour.
On
take off from the helipad your first point of interest will be
Dolphin cove where, on the way past, you will be able to see the
dolphin in the pools. From
there you will move on past the spectacular property Rio Chico, to Dunn's
River Falls, the world famous attraction that is a "must
see" in this area. You will then make a short hop along the
coast to Laughing Waters. This short stretch of golden sand beach
has a small waterfall emptying out into the Caribbean, and is
recognizable as the beach where James Bond first met Honey Ryder
coming out of the water in the movie Dr. No.
From there you will fly past Ocho Rios, Jamaica's second largest
resort area. On your let you will get your first aerial view of
Reynolds Pier, also known as James Bond Pier, which will be very
recognizable to 007 Fans as "Crab Key," Dr. No’s evil
island lair. From there you will be afforded magnificent views on
your way to fly over the historic Prospect Plantation and see the
original Great House on the hill with its spectacular view of the
Caribbean. Next is historic Rio Nuevo battlefield, where the British
first landed in Jamaica and clashed with the Spanish in 1655.
From
there you will fly to Oracabessa and view Goldeneye, Ian Fleming’s
home, This is perched on the cliff top overlooking the Caribbean and
is where he was inspired to write the Bond books. Beside Goldeneye
is the outer bank Island with James Bond Beach, which was also one
of the locations used as Crab Key
The
return trip is along the spectacular northern coastline and
culminates on
arrival back at the helipad where you will get one last look at
"Dr No’s Lair." This view from the ocean side is the most
recognizable angle as Bond Leaving Crab Key by boat was one of the
last scenes in Dr. No.
On Landing you will be escorted from the helicopter and given a
parting gift of a coupon book for the stores at Island Village that
is worth $100 US. Island Village is the brainchild of Chris
Blackwell (the founder of Island Records) and also a bit actor in
the early scenes of Dr. No.
